New videos posted throughout each week offer further context and conversation, while opening a window into artists studios and their processes.

In the Studio: Sheida Soleimani
On the occasion of the final week of FAIR, Edel Assanti presents a conversation between gallery artist Sheida Soleimani and Jamilee Lacy, Director and Chief Curator of Providence College Galleries and Collections. The conversation focuses on Sheida's current body of work, Levers of Power, which incorporates the work Edel Assanti is presenting at FAIR this week.

Performance: Craig Drennen
In conjunction with FAIR, artist Craig Drennen performs PIA. Building on the persona of 1980's actress and recording artist Pia Zadora, this performance includes props such as a vinyl 45 record of Zadora's 1982 and spoken audio is excepted from a photo essay called "Pia" that appeared in the October 1983 issue of Penthouse magazine. Performed by the artist and artist Namwon Choi; presented by Laney Contemporary, Savannah.

Edition 5/7 (+1AP)From March 9th to May 26th, 2007, audio bugs, hidden in the auditorium of the Zurich Opera House, transmitted the performances of the Zurich Opera to randomly selected telephone land-lines in the city of Zurich. Styled like a home-delivery-service, anyone that picked up their telephone was able to listen to the on-going opera performances for as long as s/he wanted through a live connection with the audio bug signal. As soon as the listener would hang up, the telephone machine would call the next random number. Every person is individually connected and can eaves-drop at their leisure from the comfort of their living room. In total over 90 hours of opera performances were retransmitted to 4363 households.

The Zurich Opera launched a search for the bugs and in a first reaction threatened to take legal action if the transmissions were not stopped and the bugs not removed. There followed a debate in the media over cultural ownership and cultural subsidies. Eventually the Zurich Opera decided to tolerate Opera Calling as a temporary enhancement of their performance repertoire.

In the Studio: Débora Delmar with Erasmo Soto
In conjunction with Débora Delmar's participation in FAIR, Syndicate presents an open conversation between Débora and immigration activist Erasmo Soto. A childhood friend of Delmar's now based in Berlin, Soto is a public policy expert formerly of Juntos Podemos in the United States. The organization specialized in funding grassroots support of Mexican and Mexican-American rights in labor, voting, healthcare, and education. The two discuss isolation politics, migrant precarity, pet debates, and the importance of fun—especially in times of crisis.
