Yevgeniya Baras' Untitled painting takes on a sculptural quality through the accumulation of paint and three-dimensional materials, a process she calls "drawing in relief". The work's physicality is complemented by its peachy sand-toned backdrop, a color palette inspired by Baras' time spent in the Texan desert during a recent residency at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa. This Untitled painting exemplifies Baras' unique visual language and capacity to build a world on canvas. Baras received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2019, a Pollock Krasner Grant in 2018, the Artadia Prize in 2015, and the Rema Hort Mann Foundation’s Emerging Artist Prize in 2014.
