This work departs from Goldschmied & Chiari's ongoing experimentation with colored smoke flares at their studio in Milan, Italy. Altered photographs of the smoke fuse with mirrored glass in a highly specialized printing process, creating a reflective surface. The playful works merge genres of performance art, studio-based photography, portraiture, and pop, and subtly change according to their particular surroundings and the viewer's position in space. This work was included in the group exhibition "Oh What a World!, What a World!," at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in 2018 and is featured on the back cover of volume 45.2 of the academic journal Diacritics.
