This work by Meghan Brady, was to be included in the artist's first solo exhibition with the gallery, now postponed until September 12. Brady aims to create paintings that are generous in spirit, but also occupy space and time in a frenetic, irregular, and ultimately surprising way. She creates deliberate and gestural marks with bold colors, which are as much rooted in painting as they are in drawing. Interested in a space between abstraction and representation, specifically in relation to the figure; human or otherwise – her work is constructed, deconstructed, and finds footing somewhere totally unexpected.
