Mark Barrow & Sarah Parke's collaborative art practice focuses on the process of weaving and its relationship to visual systems. This work is part of the artists’ recent Woman series which takes ancient fertility figures as inspiration. The bulbous fields of color and pattern in the paintings and works on paper are informed by the statues’ voluptuous curves. Abstract motifs are interspersed throughout the composition with imagery suggestive of sex, fertility and regeneration.
